Nicholas Reti

Before graduating from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2001, Nicholas Reti honed his talents in Paris and Florence. Both cities offered an incredible history and wealth of art to discover and study. In France he was introduced to woodblock printing at Monet's house at Giverny and to the work of painter John Singer Sargent at the American Museum there. In Italy, the work of Fra Angelico, Pontormo, Piero Della Francesca and the mountains of the Italian Alps offered endless sources of inspiration. Two years later he returned to Colorado to photograph and paint the mountain vistas that dominate his compositions.

Photography has always played an important role in Reti's career. His paintings often utilize a combination of plein-air, photo references, and time in the studio. Reti has also published a children's book entitled Ann and Liv Cross Antarctica, commemorating Ann Bancroft and Liv Arnesen's historic expedition, for which Reti was also commissioned to create a painting.

Reti lives in Denver, Colorado, and paints out of his Santa Fe Drive studio. He returns often to Italy, Oregon, and the island of Molokai'i.
