Join us for the newest solo exhibition by Colorado painter Lucius Welch!
Born in Texas, Lucius found his love of nature on family road trips throughout the southwest. It wasn’t until moving to Colorado after high school that he began to explore this love in ways that would change him forever.
He was often found living in the forest with only a tent, or far into remote mountains in a truck with his dog. This is where he learned what it means to truly be alive. It was this deep connection with the mountains and forests that created the need to somehow share these experiences with others. And so his love of painting was born.
The journey of being an artist has been long and challenging, often times confusing and hopeless, but it’s the need to share this feeling deep inside that can only be expressed through pigment and oil that keeps him devoted to the arts and sharing them with the world. He hopes that when viewing his paintings, you might feel something within yourself that is largely unexplainable, but always brings a sense of wonder, curiosity, and love of the natural world.
Lucius’s newest body of work contains bold, simplified shapes and striking color palettes that are reminiscent of the illustrators of the 1940’s.
